1631- Roger Williams arrives in the British North American Colonies. A ship from Bristol, the Lyon, arrives with provisions for the Massachusetts Bay Colony

1723 – Reverend John Witherspoon was born.  He would become the President of the College of New Jersey (Princeton) and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

1777 – Georgia’s (US) Constitution abolishes entails and primogeniture laws.

1783 – Sweden recognizes U.S. Independence.

1934 – Hank Aaron baseball player in the Hall of Fame is born.
