From Medina Tea Party Patriots:
A federal court has ordered that the Ohio Department of Education’s school records for the 2013-2014 school year are to be released to Disability Rights Ohio. This order is the result of a lawsuit that Disability Rights Ohio filed against the state. Although the court has instructed schools to post information notifying families of this information release and how they can have information about their student stopped from being released, it seems unlikely that many families will be made aware of this in time.
Although the students’ names, addresses and social security numbers will not be released, their student ID numbers, gender, race, age and disability category, as well as their performance on standardized tests will be released.
To stop the release of information you must make a formal objection that the court receives by September 12th. A copy of the notice that schools are supposed to post, along with instructions on how parents can object, can be viewed here. If you are a parent or know a parent who has children that were in an Ohio School during the previous school year, please forward them this link so that they can determine whether they wish to have their child’s information released.
