It’s About Freedom
Why did the first settlers come to this country? Religious freedom. Why did we fight a Revolutionary War? Freedom from taxation without representation. Why did we fight a Civil War? Freedom from slavery. Why did we fight two world wars? Freedom from tyrannical governments. Why do the Ukrainians fight today? Once again, freedom.
The fight is always about freedom, whether it is personal, economic, religious or speech. It is the freedom to choose and create one’s own destiny, without the oppressive hand of an over-reaching, over-regulating government.
This is what we all want, for ourselves, for others, for our children. We want everyone to have the freedom to pursue their dreams, limited only by their own talents and desires. That’s why people came to this country and still do.
Unfortunately, we have become complacent over the years, and have allowed a government that was created for the people to become a government of the elite. A ruling class that cares little for the prosperity of this country’s citizens, and more about creating a dependency on government in an effort to perpetuate its own growth and political future.
This is why the tea party movement lives today — freedom. When our government believes it has the authority to tell us what’s best for our families and us — from education, to marriage, industry, health care and even light bulbs — then we have lost that freedom.
Do we want complete anarchy? Are we “anti-government”? Of course not. We believe in the freedom to work hard and the freedom to keep the fruits of your labor to use as you see fit without harming others and without hindering their freedom. We believe as Thomas Jefferson believed, that “The policy of the American Government is to leave its citizens free, neither restraining them nor aiding them in their pursuits.”
We believe in personal freedom, economic freedom and a debt-free future for our children and grandchildren. If that’s what you believe, then join us at Mansfieldteaparty.com or Teapartypatriots.org.
