NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Feb. 27, 2014 – North Canton resident Lisa Marie Bast today announced she is running in the May primary election as candidate for State and County Central Committee against long-time Republican incumbent Sarah Brown.

“The people of Stark County and Ohio deserve and expect elected officials who will adequately represent them,” Bast says. “For that to happen, the Ohio Republican Party must identify candidates who will uphold the National Party Platform and promote conservative and free-market principles. But most importantly, our elected officials must stand up for Ohioans by honoring the will of the people, regardless of political pressure not to do so.”

Freedom-loving Ohioans were disappointed and frustrated when Governor Kasich decided to ignore the will of the people by implementing the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. “Obamacare” in Ohio through Medicaid expansion. Three years ago Ohioans voted by an impressive margin to opt out of Obamacare in the November 2011 general election, but that didn’t deter Governor Kasich from furthering his own political agenda.

“It’s clear Ohio’s elected officials are not respecting Ohio’s democratic process nor are they adequately representing their constituents and that’s not acceptable,” Bast says. “As a grassroots activist, I was spurred to join the fight for a seat at the table because I’m deeply concerned about the welfare of Ohio. Business as usual in Columbus must stop. It would a privilege to serve Ohioans by ensuring they are fairly represented at local and state levels.”

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
