Why is the GOP using the Progressive narrative?

From Medina Tea Party Patriots:

The GOP in the House has taken a stand. John Boehner has made clear that while he did not want a government shutdown, the damage that the implementation of Obamacare is having on the American people must be addressed. He also has made clear that he will not allow the debt limit to be raised without discussions of serious cuts to spending. However, he has also said that he will not allow the government to default on its obligations.

While we applaud these actions, his words have us scratching our heads. Either knowingly or unknowingly, Speaker Boehner is feeding into the Progressive narrative with his language.

We must assume that Mr. Boehner is aware that the government has not been “shut down.” Only 17% of government services have been curtailed and the administration is using its resources to close down tourist attractions that will cause the most inconvenience to all of us. Why isn’t Speaker Boehner refusing to use the words “shut down,” and instead taking every opportunity, while on camera, to explain how false this narrative is and how the Obama administration is using punitive actions against its citizenry?

Also, why is Speaker Boehner saying that he will not allow the government to default on its debt? Only 8% of the revenue received by the federal government is needed to pay off any interest on the debt. The government will not default – no way, no how – unless President Obama chooses to not use this small percentage of revenue to keep us in good standing. According to Moody’s Steven Hess, the debt limit restricts government expenditures to the amount of incoming revenues. It does not prohibit servicing existing debt or issuing new paper to replace maturing debt. Further, the bigger problem for the nation’s credit rating is not the debt limit, but rather the unchecked spending problem. Again, why is Speaker Boehner not explaining this to the American people?

If you listen to politicians from either side of the aisle you are getting a completely false impression about the “shut down” and the “default.

Keep pressuring Congress – they must continue to fight

With the pressure building on House Republicans to buckle and make a deal, now is the time to make as many phone calls as possible. This fight over Obamacare funding would have never happened if it weren’t for you. You spoke out and made your voices heard, and the House of Representatives finally listened to the people. Now they are under immense pressure to give in and give up on the fight. Paul Ryan laid out his path to compromise in the Wall Street Journal the other day, and he didn’t even mention Obamacare! [1] We have to make sure they keep their eyes on the goal to stop the implementation of Obamacare!

Why Congress must continue to fight

According to the latest IBD/TIPP poll, Obamacare is hitting an all time level of opposition. Here are a few highlights from their study:

§  Obamacare is hurting Americans: “Nearly one in 10 said that either they or someone in their household has had their hours cut back because of ObamaCare. That translates into as many as 9 million people. Meanwhile, 6% say they or another household member has lost a job because of ObamaCare. In other words, the health law is responsible for as many as 7 million lost jobs.” Yes, 7 million jobs! We need leaders who will stand up and refuse to fund a bill that destroys our jobs and hurts so many Americans.

§  The majority of Americans oppose Obamacare: “More troubling for backers is that independents have decidedly turned against the law. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of independents now oppose ObamaCare, up from 50% in August. Just 30% say they back the law, down from 40% in August.” More and more people are realizing this healthcare law is a sham. We are winning the Obamacare message war.

GOP: Stand your ground and fight for us

While repeal of the medical device tax will improve Obamacare, it does not go nearly far enough. In fact, the Dems may insist that revenue lost if this tax is repealed be replaced from some other source. If this occurs, it will do nothing to slow down Obamacare’s implementation.

Call the following members of Congress today, and tell them this fight is about Obamacare and now is not the time to back down!
